Same issue. Works when manually chosen, though.

Yes, we have same error
We are aware of this issue occurring in TestRail and are working on a fix for this. This will only occur when in 3-pane (Fast Track) view mode. If you close the expanded test view, you should be able to assign the tests to the desired user.
