TestRail on Demand?

#1

Do you have any plans to offer TestRail as a hosted service, instead of the download-and-install strategy?

#2

Hello,

While we don’t currently plan to offer a hosted version of TestRail ourselves in the near future, we do want to partner with a hosting company that offers such a service. Ideally such a service would allow you to import your data from a local installation, so you could switch to the hosted version once it becomes available. When we have some more details about this we will publish an announcement on our blog.

Regards,
Dennis

Sounds good, but what I was actually thinking about was something like a per-month plan, that includes hosting and upgrades, etc. Like for example FogBugz, or PractiTest, and others, offer. It’s no showstopper, but definitely easier for the customer (in my opinion).

Hello,

I agree and if we find a good hosting partner then this is the plan. We want to provide a hosting offering at some point with monthly billing, upgrades, backups etc. We just want to do this with a third-party hosting company instead of doing it ourselves, as we prefer to have a specialist company providing the actual hosting and billing.

Thanks,
Dennis

I was wondering if you could provide an update if and when TestRail would be offered as a hosted service?

Hello,

Thanks for your message. We are working on building the infrastructure for a hosted TestRail service at the moment and our current plan is to offer this in the coming two months (subject to change, but it has a high priority for us). The plan is also to allow existing customers and hosted trial users to migrate to it if they prefer the hosted option. A self-hosted instance still has a few advantages (such as direct database access or integration with Active Directory) and we are also happy to help with setting up a local instance if you like.

Thanks,
Dennis
