Import from CSV did not support update cases?
Only support updating test cases in “import from XML”?

Thanks.

Hello Alston,

Thanks for your feedback on the new version. Updating cases via the CSV import is currently not supported because the CSV import is mainly used/meant for migrating test cases from other systems to TestRail. I’m happy to add this to our todo list and we will make sure to look into this, thanks for the suggestion!

Regards,
Tobias

Hello Tobias,

How do you update test cases?
Export to XML format and then edit the XML directly?
I don’t think it is convenient to edit the XML file directly. It would be easier to modify in CSV format.
Any suggestion about this?

Thanks.
Alston

Hello Alston,

Thanks for your reply. We recommend updating test cases directly in TestRail and you can use the bulk-edit if you want to update multiple test cases in one step:

http://blog.gurock.com/postings/introducing-testrail-4-0/2757/

(see “Test Case Bulk Editing”)

I hope this helps!

Currently, the version I use for work only allows for exporting of a Test Plan in XML/CSV/Excel.

This update will allow those same exported files to then be imported into a new Test Plan?

Hello,

This release adds a new CSV import on the test suite/case level and you can now easily import CSV/Excel files to add new test cases or sections. You can learn more about the new version and features here:
