Push to Fogbugz: Change Assignment, Add testresults to comment

#1

Hi all,

I’m newbie. Just started testing Testrail. Great product so far!

Our defect tool we working with is Fogbugz. I have a couple of questions.

Will there be a plugin-available in Fogbugz for having a 2-way (FB<->TR) workflow ?
2.
When pushing a failed test to Fogbugz it’s not possible to change assignment or milestone. Is it possible ?
3.
Also it would help us a lot to push more testresult information in comment.

Currently it only adds:

Test: Test Name
https://NAME.testrail.com/index.php?/

It would be good to push:

  • Step
  • Expected result
  • Actual result
  • Version

Possible ?

Thanks!

Cheers,
Dennis

Hello Dennis,

Thanks for your posting. We have plans to further improve the integration between the most popular bug trackers and TestRail, e.g. with a two-way workflow. It is not yet clear which bug trackers will be supported and when this integration will be available but it’s already on our todo list.

Regarding your other points: the so called defect plugins that implement the Push & Lookup features in TestRail are fully customizable. So if you are looking for features that are currently not available with the default implementations, you can freely customize the defect plugins:

http://docs.gurock.com/testrail-integration/defects-plugins-examples

It is possible to add new fields to the Push dialog (e.g. milestone), include additional details in the bug comment and much more. Just let me know in case you have any questions, we are happy to help.

Regards,
Tobias

To my understanding this is how you customize on a testrail server, is it also possible to change this on a hosted version ?

Hello Dennis,

Customized defects plugin are also fully supported on our Hosted platform.

This would require installing a local version of TestRail to develop/customize and debug the defect plugin. You would then send us the modified defect plugin and we can add this to your TestRail Hosted account then (after reviewing the defect plugin for security/performance issues). Installing TestRail is very simple (e.g. on a virtual machine) and we are happy to help in case you have any questions. You can request the downloadable version of TestRail here:

https://secure.gurock.com/testrail/trial/

Please let me know in case anything is unclear.

Tobias
