Performance issue - add test case

#1

Hello,

We have a project with 1511 test cases and ~ 500 000 Tests(instances of test cases in a test runs). Adding test case actions takes too long for this project. For smaller projects everything works fine.

Is there a solution to improve performace for large projects?

Thank you!

Hi Elena,

Thanks for your posting. Can you check the number of open test plans/runs you have? Whenever you add a new test case, TestRail adds a new (untested) test to every active test run (with the include-all option for cases enabled) and this can take a few seconds with a very large number of test runs & plans. You can reduce the number of active runs/plans by closing them to archive them (if they are finished) or by removing old runs/plans you no longer need.

http://docs.gurock.com/testrail-userguide/userguide-tips#closing_test_runs

I hope this helps!

Cheers,
Tobias

Hello,

We have 304 open and 202 completed test runs in this project.

Thank you!

Hi Elena,

Thanks for your reply! If you have the option to close a majority of the open test runs/plans, adding a new case will speed up considerably and will be back to the regular performance. You can either close the runs/plans if you want to archive them and if they are finished, or remove them if no longer need them.

Cheers,
Tobias
