Multiple Consoles


We want our help desk to watch the system with mulitple consoles is this possible to have the logger send to mulitple machines or is that overkill



Technically, this is certainly possible with SmartInspect. You can log to different Consoles by specifying multiple TCP connections in the connections string. If this is this is the ideal approach for your situation depends on different factors.

For production systems, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this, as logging to many TCP/IP connections can reduce the performance of the system somewhat. This might not be so dramatic in your case, so you should test the performance first before going “live”. For testing and development purposes, this is a common scenario though.

If the performance is no issue for you after testing it, this might still be a good way for smaller production systems that should be monitored via multiple Consoles.
