Milestones and API things

#1

Hi All,

I’m looking at setting monthly Milestones for the UAT/BPT side of manual document tests. Is there a way of manipulating the API to use the sytem clock, so there would be no need to manually create one?

I could be way off here, but I haven’t really been able to find the sort of thing I’m looking for.

Any pointers/help would be great.

Thanks in advance

Hello Max,

Thanks for your posting. Could you provide a few more details on what you are trying to accomplish? What do you mean with system clock, for example? If you want to create new milestones at the beginning of a month, you can automate this easily with the scheduling features of Windows or Linux/Unix (Windows Scheduler or cron under Linux/Unix).

I hope this helps!

Thanks,
Tobias

Hmm… I didn’t know there was a way to use the scheduling features of windows or linux. Have always set the milestone manually.

Exactly what I meant. Create new milestone every month automatically.
Interesting… must have a dig around

Thanks Tobias

Hi Max,

Great to hear that this would work for you  The idea would be to use the operating system scheduler (Windows Scheduler or cron) to trigger a script that simply adds a milestone via the API.

Cheers,
Tobias

I’m making a start with the documentation…

POST index.php?/api/v2/add_milestone/:project_id’… not a developer so it might take me a few days but once I get it I think it’ll be something I can implement easier when we get the go ahead to move our current platform to linux

Hi Max,

The API also comes with a few examples and bindings for various languages (C#, Java, Python, etc.) but we are also happy to help in case you have any questions.
