Is a test run with test cases from multiple test suites possible?

#1

Hi,

I was wondering if I could create a test run for a milestone which would comprise of several test cases across more test suites we have defined. Is this possible in the current version?
And if not, is there a way to comprise the test results of several test runs for the same milestone in the same report?

Thanks,
Sorina

Hello Sorina,

Thanks for your posting! A test run is always linked to a single test suite but you can create a test plan to start test runs for multiple suites:

http://www.gurock.com/testrail/videos/test-plans-configurations/

Would this work for you?

Plans can also be used to start test runs for multiple configurations and/or environments (such as browsers or operating systems).

I hope this helps!

Tobias

Hi Tobias, thanks for your prompt answer! I was looking more into customizing a Test Run in such way as to select various tests from suits and add configurations for the Run, as it involves a small number of test cases for my current purpose.
But I will have to make do with what the tool offers :).

Hi Sorina,

Thanks for the update  I can also recommend looking into the option of using a single case repository / test suite per project:

(see Suite Modes and Baselines)

Please let me know in case you have any questions!

Cheers,
Tobias
