How to hide the clear text password from gui

#1

I’ve set up JIRA as the defect tool.
Under My Settings --> Settings you have to enter you jira user and password.
The password is shown in clear text, which is very annoying every time I train people on Testrail and forget to empty the field.

Is there a config way show dots or asteriks instead of the real passwor ?

Hello,

There is actually a “password” field type that you should use for password defect variables. When you use this field type instead of “string”, TestRail stores the passwords encrypted in the database and also doesn’t show the password in plain text in the user interface. You can also see a screenshot of this here:

http://docs.gurock.com/testrail-integration/defects-plugins-variables#configuring_user_mapping

We also just made this bold in the documentation and added an extra sentence so it’s not so easy to miss.

I hope this helps!
