Feature Request - User Role Improvements

We are having to build around a lot of functionality gaps in testrail using the API and custom scripts. Ideally I’d like particular member of my team to be able to have access to create custom UI scripts. In order to do this, I have to make them a full administrator which way beyond what is necessary.

Ideally, I’d another role/set of permissions where someone can have normal test permissions but special access to UI scripts so they can have a “Test Integration Specialist” role.

In addition, it would good if there was a way that we could add a user that purely had API access, and no front end access (i.e. an API bot account). When Jenkins is running multiple automation jobs, the user reporting is now meaningless as they API updates all relate to existing user accounts.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the feedback regarding user roles. We do have a feature request for separating out additional admin features to non-admin users and I will add your vote to this feature request to help us with prioritization.

In regards to the separate user for your Jenkins automation, you would be able to create a user account for this purpose. We do have many teams who create a separate ‘Service’ user account to use for test automation. This user would count toward your subscription, so depending on your current user tier, you may incur additional costs for this account.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
