Feature Request | Adding Multiple Expected Results to a set of steps

#1

Hello,

I’d like to request a feature where you can add multiple “expected Results” to a single set of steps. I would like each of these “expected results” to have their own set of “Pass/fail” options when the test is run. Even if the line break in the expected results could have a pass/fail assigned to it instead of a whole new text field.

Currently I have my test cases set up by Steps, the First Step with have the actual Steps to run the test, then the following Steps will just have things in the Expected Results field for the tester to Pass/Fail against. Would be nice if there was a cleaner way to do this. Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks for your posting. Do you already use the separated steps control/custom field?

http://docs.gurock.com/testrail-faq/config-steps

You can simply leave individual steps empty and only fill the expected result and you can still assign a test result per step/expected result then.

That’s how I’m currently doing it, making multiple steps with individual lines for Expected Results, was just hoping for a more stream lined version because some of our test cases can have up to 50+ result points and this can get hard to manage.

I will continue doing it this way in the mean time however!

Thanks for the additional details. That’s currently the only way if you want to assign a separate status for each line of the expected results but good to hear that this approach also works for you.
