Export tests with images

#1

Hi,

How do you include images in an export?

We have many test cases that include images in the steps field but they are nowhere to be found when we do an export.

This is a major problem for us as we need to keep our own archives.

Thanks
Martin

Hello Martin,

Thanks for your posting. In case you are using the TestRail Hosted edition (testrail.com), you can download a full dump of the images and attachments in the administration area under Administration > Subscription. For TestRail installations on your own server, you can simply access the configured attachment directory to archive or backup images/attachments (requires access to the server).

Tobias

Hi,

i’m stuck with quite the same issue. The thing is that the XML export does not really contain any reference to the image file name. I could copy them automatically but that would require to have some kind of reference. Is there a stable way to obtain the image file name(s), path or even data through an API call based on information you export as XML?

Cheers
Martin

Hello Martin,

Thanks for your posting. This information is currently not exposed via the API or similar but you can access it directly via the database (with self-hosted TestRail installations). We are happy to provide an example for this if you could send us an email to our help desk at contact@gurock.com.

Regards,
Tobias
