Does the markdown table support colspan?

#1

Dose the markdown table support colspan?
How to use it?

Thanks.

Hi Alston,

Thanks for your posting! Yes, this is supported and TestRail will automatically handle the colspans for you. You only need to omit the column separators as follows:

|||:Header 1|:Header 2|:Header 3|:Header 4
|| Row 1 .. |  |  |
|| Row 2 .. |  Test
|| Row 3 .. |  |  |
|| Row 4 .. |  |  |

I hope this helps!

Cheers,
Tobias

Hi Tobias,

Thanks for your response. Good to hear that it supports span.

I do try your example. I have a question: How should I do if I want to span col 3 and 4?
Also, can it support row span?

Thanks.

Hello Alston,

Thanks for your reply! Col spans are supported for the last column in a row and TestRail would render this automatically based on the number of columns you have (as in the example), so two columns with col spans > 1 are currently not possible. Row spans are currently not supported unfortunately.

Cheers,
Tobias

No~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

you just give me a hope and then you destroy it!!

I have to think how to deal with this situation.

But still thanks for your support.

Hi Alston,

Sorry to hear that. The tables do support colspans but this would only apply to the last column in a row and the colspan would be handled automatically in this case. We are happy to look into making this more flexible in the future, thanks again for your feedback.

Cheers,
Tobias
