Copying of test run items

#1

Hi,

there is option to export test run results. But I don’t understand how to use exported results because there is no option to import it.

Another way is to copy some results (now there is no such option). It can be useful, for example, a test may have different results on different platforms).

So is it possible to implement such feature?

Hello Ochir,

Thanks for your message. Exported test run results are currently only provided in case you want to further process this data (for example, to build your own custom report with Excel). There is currently no way to use this data with TestRail itself.

Could you explain in which kind of situations you would want to copy test results? This would help us better understand your feature request. Please note that you can already copy test cases in TestRail, but not yet results. Thanks!

Regards,
Dennis

Hi Denis,

there can be 2 different platoforms (Linux, Win) with similar test plans and test results. But the several steps are usually different.
Or tests with real and fake objects have a same test plan but different test results.

Hi Ochir,

Thanks for the clarification. I have added this as a feature request to our list and we will consider a way to copy/duplicate test results for a future release. Thanks!

Was this functionality ever implemented? Would be an okay kludge to the issue I posted here - http://forum.gurock.com/post/5292/#p5292

Hello Alin,

While importing test results is not available, TestRail now comes with an advanced API you could use for this (with several bindings for different programming languages):

Thanks, Tobias. We use the API pretty extensively to feed automated script results into test runs. I was hoping for something a little more streamlined than writing custom code to perform a conceptually straightforward task. :S

Hello Alin,

I updated the other thread in the meantime:
