Capping LDAP connections

#1

Hello team,

We’ve recently switched to using LDAP within our Testrail instance.
We are allowing only access to a certain LDAP group.
Unfortunately, this group is still larger than our available license package.

So, what is the preferred way to “whitelist” only a max number of users belonging to that LDAP group ?

  • A hardcoded whitelist list of users in auth.php ?
  • A new LDAP group (or subgroup) just for those users ?
  • Manually import a list of users to Testrail and turn off the AUTH_CREATE_ACCOUNT variable ?

Basically, we don’t want people to keep logging in, creating new accounts and blowing through our max license.

thanks,

-Rami

Hi Rami,

Thank you for your post. In this situation, we would normally recommend creating a specific group in LDAP for your TestRail users. If you do not want to do this, you could simply disable the AUTH_CREATE_ACCOUNT variable and ensure that all expected users do in fact have an account in TestRail.
